Here's what the BMW owners are thinking.

I own a BMW, still drew a dick.

It's hard. There are BMW drivers and BMW enthusiasts. The two get confused all the time.

To be fair, isn't that the first thing we'd draw on any vehicle?

Yeah, I'm 12

Cool, I'm also 12, want to light stuff on fire?

I enjoyed your recent GT-R story , but no. Maybe you earned over 50k by the time you hit college. Most ppl havent. Many, many state and community colleges in the U.S. are littered with these things as well as numerous other "bimmers." More than a few students @ NYU in NYC where I live have cars like your GTR, who pay thousands of dollars per year to park them, and don't know a single thing about them. They literally treat them like their latest Iphone. Not many iphone owners are software developers. Haters gonna hate.

I immediately imagined a family (or phamily, as it were) of penises rollin' down the road.

Well, the way I see it, those two things aren't mutually exclusive. You are a BMW driver and a BMW enthusiast (and a car enthusiast in general). I think there's car enthusiasts, and people who don't know shit about cars, but want to drive a status symbol. Honestly, we make fun of them, but not everyone is a car enthusiast. Some people want to drive a BMW just because it's a BMW. That's okay in my book. I just wont talk to them about variable valve timing.

1. I'm 24.
2. I had my GT-R in college.
3. Don't assume all those kids are jackasses that don't know shit about their cars.
4. A few definitely are jackasses though.

And this is what everybody else is thinking:

I own a BMW and I am a dick. I just don't drive like one......usually.

Oh no, sorry, just kids that have high dollar performance cars that don't understand what they're for and choose to depress the go-pedal completely regardless - are who I'm calling out ass-hattery upon. I didn't necessarily mean "hit" college as Freshman year, but your car @24 is still like owning Disney World... more power to you for it!
BMW CPO or New driver's have nothing on even the most used GT-R. Let alone a driver who respects his.

Earlier this week, my wife sent me a picture with a BMW parked poorly with the comment "Always a BMW". Then, when we're walking through the crowded parking garage to a concert - Black Keys - there's an asshat taking two spots. A BMW, of course.
I told her that I know there's a pretty harsh stigma that comes with the car, in no small part because of asshole owners, but that the enjoyment that it gives me is worth it.
